Emergency Drops (EMR) tend to be misunderstood about what their intended use is for, and this article is to help alleviate those misconceptions. We’ll attempt to outline some helpful hints to assist pointing you in the right direction, should you question if your situation warrants an EMR Drop. EMR are for unforeseen/unplanned events such as experiencing a car accident on your way to the airport, hot water heater floods your house while you’re getting ready for work, house sustains severe storm damage during the night before your 0500 report. These are examples, and certainly not an exhaustive list, but suggestions of what might qualify for an EMR Drop.
These requests must be accompanied by service receipts, invoices, towing bills, insurance claims, etc. Photos of events/locations would most likely not be accepted. Any event that could be covered by a leave and is administered by our Leave of Absence service provider, would most likely not be approved for an EMR Drop. Serious Illness and off duty injuries would need to apply for a leave with our leave service provider, FMLA Source. Non-serious Illness would be covered by Sick time from your allotted sick bank, to allow you to stay home and recover and would not be approved for an EMR Drop. Appointments and scheduled activities are not unplanned/unforeseen events and would not likely be approved for an EMR Drop.
