We are happy to share that the FAA recently granted Frontier approval to adjust Reinstatement training guidelines. The below guidelines will be published in the next FAM revision.
Reinstatement Training is required when a Flight Attendant has been on leave for more than 365 days from the date of his/her last flown flight or Recurrent Ground School (RGS) class and the Flight Attendant has become disqualified. She/he must successfully complete the Procedural and Regulatory Review CBT modules and approved Recurrent Ground School Training (RGS). This Flight Attendant will also perform a Practical Operating Experience (POE).
There are three (3) elements to Reinstatement training:
- Computer Based Training (CBT) modules
- Recurrent Ground School (RGS) class
- Practical Operating Experience (POE)
A Flight Attendant who has been on leave for more than 180 days may request Reinstatement Training.
A Flight Attendant who has been on leave for more than 24 months must attend and successfully complete the approved Frontier Airlines Initial Training program.
Below are some examples of when Reinstatement Training is needed or not needed.
Example 1: Reinstatement Training not needed.
Flight Attendant James has been on leave since April 2020. James intends to continue using company offered leaves until May of 2021. James attended Recurrent Ground School (RGS) in July of 2020. James does not need Reinstatement, as he attended Recurrent Ground School (RGS) during the month of July and has retained his qualified Flight Attendant status.
Example 2: Reinstatement Training needed.
Flight Attendant Sally has been on leave since April of 2020, Sally has not attended a Recurrent Ground School (RGS) class nor has she flown in the last 365 days. Sally has become disqualified as a Flight Attendant. Because Sally has not flown nor attended Recurrent Ground School (RGS) in the last 365 days, Sally is a de-qualified Flight Attendant and must attend reinstatement training.
Example 3: Flight Attendant requests Reinstatement Training.
Flight Attendant Avery has been out on leave for just over 8 months and will be returning to flying. While she is not disqualified, she feels as though she needs a refresher course. She wants to touch the doors, review arming and disarming procedures, practice CPR, and familiarize herself with various CBT courses to ensure she is comfortable performing her Flight Attendant duties. Avery has emailed the Inflight Training Department and requested to attend Reinstatement Training. The Inflight Training Department may approve Avery to attend training.
