Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is the only major airport serving the nation's 6th largest metropolitan area.  PHL opened in 1940 and was known then as Philadelphia Municipal Airport which transported 40,000 passengers on just a handful of carriers.T Today, the airport serves 32.24 million passengers annually. The airport is located 7 mi (11 km) from the city's downtown area and has 25 airlines that offer nearly 500 daily departures to more than 140 destinations worldwide.

Philadelphia International Airport is located on 8000 Essington Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19153.

The airport consists of one several terminals which contain several concourses.

Frontier Airlines flights operates out of Terminal E utilizing gates 1-17. Baggage claim for Frontier flights is located in Terminal E.

There are several KCM checkpoints at PHL. For Frontier flights,  use the KCM located in Terminal E, Adjacent to Lane 14.

Interesting Things About PHL:

  • Pet Relief Areas - Furry travelers have eight private restrooms available in each terminal. The Terminal E pet relief area is located right next to gate E-1.

  • Nursing Rooms - PHL offers three nursing rooms that are conveniently located post-security in Terminals A, the B/C Connector and Terminal F, and are available at no charge.

  • Minute Suites - Minute Suites offers private retreats, past TSA within airport terminals to nap, relax, work All standard suites feature complimentary DirecTV, Netflix and Wi-fi. A daybed with pull-out trundle sleeps two comfortably and is in each room. Up to four people can relax in a room. 

  • Philadelphia Airport Marriott - Located in the main terminal, the Philadelphia Airport Marriott is a 4-star hotel that offers 24-hour room service and recently renovated soundproof rooms. The hotel is connected via skywalk to Terminal B at PHL.

  • SEPTA Train Transportation - Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, SEPTA, provides train service between Center City and the Airport on the Airport Regional Rail Line. Trains run every 30 minutes and operate from 4:52 am to 11:52 pm (Center City to Airport) and from 5:07 am to 12:30 am (Airport to Center City). Stations on the Airport Regional Rail Line include Terminal E/F, Terminal C/D, Terminal B, Terminal A (East), Eastwick, University City, 30th Street, and three Center City stations along Market Street. All stations on the Airport Line are wheelchair accessible.

  • SEPTA Bus Transportation - The airport is also served by three SEPTA bus routes at Zone 1 of the Arrivals Road outside of baggage claim: Route 37 to/from South Philadelphia and Chester, Pa.; Route 108 to/from 69th Street Transportation Center; Route 115 to/from Suburban Square in Ardmore.   • USO - The Liberty USO is open to military personnel and their families on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The facility offers a variety of amenities and is located on the secure side in Terminal E.
  • Charging Stations - PHL offers charging stations throughout the secure side of all terminals and most are identified with Power Up at PHL branding.
  • Live Entertainment - PHL schedules entertainment throughout the year with special focus on peak travel times. You can find entertainers onstage in the B/C and F Food Courts as well as strolling throughout the terminals. Just Plane Fun  is the Airport’s summer-long entertainment program with live performances, demonstrations,  caricaturists and more. The weekly schedule of events is available at all Airport information counters and online.
