Commuter (CMT) Clause Requests

Flight Attendants should report their Commuter Clause requests within 24 hours of missed assignment's start through the appropriate channel to Inflight Dependability to avoid denial for an untimely request.

Be sure to give Crew Scheduling the minimum notification, as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), of your initial missed commuter attempt and your subsequent flight listings/plan.

You may call them and notify CS of your Commuter Plans ahead of that notification time to document your planned flight attempts (Carrier, Flight Number and Pairing) for them to document/follow your attempts, track flights and preserve the record.

If you are on Reserve, you are expected to make the required number of attempts to commute to base each duty day of your reserve block. Each Reserve Day you call out Commuter Clause will count as a separate Commuter Clause request. Probationary Flight Attendants have a limited number of Commuter Clause requests per the CBA.

Commuter Clause requests may not be used for trips picked up out of base. Please always reference your CBA before starting commuting, to understand the protections and provisions and not risk forfeiting those protections by missing a requirement.
